Constant Craving...

If the shoe genie were to stop by my humble home and grant me five shoe wishes...these would be on my list. But of course for my last shoe wish I would ask for more shoe wishes because a girl can not survive on 5 shoes alone :)HA!

Jaunt New York

Hi Everyone!

I just want to give a little shout out to the Spring/Summer 2010 launch of my friend (Diego Vela) and his design partner (Jeremy Freeze) clothing line Jaunt New York. The line (in my opinion) is a clash between sleek minimalism with its use of languid jersey knits and tricolor palette of black, gray and white and, the aggressiveness and playfulness of proportion of the 1980s. What makes this line interesting is that when all of these elements are combined it gives you clothing items that are instantly chic and cool yet accessible and uncomplicated to wear.

To check out more about their line find your way to this site. Great photographs at: http://www.jauntnewyork.com

Congratulations to Jaunt New York!

Is Nothing Sacred?!?!

I know I don't really talk about celebrity gossip because I care more about their stylist and makeup artist then them but this bit of news has thrown me for a loop. Jessica Simpson (B-rated pop/country/whatever makes me famous star) is dating Billy Corgan (lead front man of the awesome 90s band the Smashing Pumpkins). SAY WHAT?!?!

According to People magazine, "They are getting to know each other," says the source. "He's a nice guy." Once again....WHAT!!!

Has the world gone mad? I really do think Jessica Simpson has got us all fooled. She'll probably be president one day and we won't even know how she got elected...just sayin' :p

Here's the link to the blurb: http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20326237,00.html

SAY WHAT!!!

Happy Fashions with a smidgen of gossip!

Hard to Buy, Hard to Use: PROJECT 10 PAN

Recently I've come to the conclusion that I have WAY, WAY too much makeup that goes unused. (I bet my sister is thinking...yeah I told you so). Well she is/was right. I have so much that goes untouched even though I worked really hard to buy it. So from this official moment I am going on PROJECT 10 PAN.

Project 10 Pan is for all you makeup junkies out there like me. My goal is to use up 10 full size products in its entirety before I buy one new thing. (Note: Pan refers to an eyeshadow or blush pan in a compact. Dry products tend to be put in a pan.)

So if you are a junkie like me and have amassed a mountain of makeup then join me in this quest to pair down for the New Year....or at least make room for all the new collections of 2010. LOL!!!

Heaven help me =D

Tragic People Never Look This Good...

What's not to like? It's voyeurism in a highly controlled environment where 'beautifully tragic' people get naked and get it on (well the suggestions of it anyway). In this months issue of MUSE: A FashionArt Magaizine a scantly clad Lindsay Lohan appears as the damsel du jour in the Winter 09 edition.

WANT TO SEE FOR YOURSELF? (http://www.ftape.com/media/?p=4656)

Here is an excerpt from the article. I am assuming it's from the photographer Yu Tsai who shot the video and photos. (Note: I could be wrong with the quote credit :P)

“I was always fascinated by Johnny Depp and Kate Moss, and when I asked Lindsay to do a shoot, she jumped at the chance. It was all about her being sexy, channeling Kate from the ’90s. When I suggested adding another girl, Lindsay invited Sofia, who is a friend and a dancer for Madonna. The three of them were very sensual and provocative, but Lindsay understands this piece was created not for any sensational value other than artistic integrity. There was never a discussion about pushing the boundaries. She was totally comfortable with the nudity as long as it had artistic integrity."

I don't know, I don't know! It all looks awesome and I love the vibe of the piece but it does seem more sensational than artistic when you use Lindsay Lohan for ANYTHING!!! Just my opinion though. Hopefully when I become really tragic and delve into the depths of my mania I will look this good =D

BLING ON CRACK aka Decoden...you have to have it!

Decoden or Deco-den is the Japanese equivalent of BLING OUT OF CONTROL!!! Take one plain item and make it better then ever!! And I for one love it. I always have loved things that are kitchy and fun and girly. I also love items that verge on gaudy but never ugly. Well, leave it to the Japanese to figure out that awesome medium. It's too cute and cool to be ugly but it's not for the faint of heart.

The other great thing about this decorating style is that anyone can do it. As long as your have a hard surface (read any gadgets new or old, compacts, mirrors...)you can decorate it with rhinestones and little plastic cuteness.

I have ordered supplies to make my own decoden phone and I can't wait to begin. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube (not all in English but you get the gist). So check them out. I suggest that you glue your items onto a phone or gadget cover so you have the option to change. But if you don't care I say GO FOR IT!!!

I will update you once I make my phone. Eeek...So Excited!!!!

Take care for now and HAPPY FASHIONS,
_Elisa

Fashion News Flash: Badgley Mischka is going to be on HSN!!!

Call it the economic down turn.

Call it bigger marketing base.

But whatever you do call it lucky for us! Badgley Mischka is going to premier their American Glamour line on HSN on Nov. 17. I've noticed that a lot of designers are starting to sell their goods on shopping television. I bought some items from stylist Rachel Zoe when she debuted her collection on QVC and I really love it. **I must make a note to show you what I bought.**

Some people might not like this trend of high-end designers being so accessible to the masses but if you are a style huntress like me...you get a extra thump in your heart just thinking about all the affordable goodies to buy!

Here is a link to the site: http://www.hsn.com/american-glamour-badgley-mischka/american-glamour-badgley-mischka_c-ag_a-7041_xc.aspx?view=all&cm_re=Billboard*shopAll*American_Glamour

Somehow a String Quartet Makes Everything Even Better!

I wonder how my life would be if I had a rock band with a string quartet following me around in my daily life? If you could have music follow you around (like a movie) what genre would you pick?

MAC Magic, Mirth, & Mischief lipstick/lipgloss swatch

From left to right:

Top: Suprise Me, Utter Fun, Pervette
Bottom: Jingle Jangle, Total Wow! She-zam

Review: Lippies were very pretty. I really liked she-zam as it seemed to be the real stand out! It is a silver frost/glitter dazzleglass. 'Surprise me' was my favorite lipstick of the bunch. And I thought pervette was part of the permanent line...but I could be wrong. It is still really pretty though :)

Fashion of the Day: Leopard

Well actually this is what I wore the the MAC event: Magic, Mirth & Mischief last night! Hope you enjoy :)

MAC Style Black and Dsquared swatches

I have to say that these two collections are my fav. The Style Black mineralized eyeshadows are so pigmented. I have seen reviews on youtube saying they were just a bunch of glitter. But I didn't really find that to be the case. They had more substance to them and I think a valid addition to anyone's collection that likes a smokey eye and a bit of drama. I LOVED IT!

As for Dsquared: GREAT! The greasepaint sticks were two really great colors but I do think that if you use a paint pot or a gel eyeliner you can get the same effect. They had great staying power on my hand but my hands are very dry compared to my eyelids. But if you wear a lot of purple or blues it might be worth checking out. There lipsticks were TO DIE FOR!!! I wanted them both as they were sooo pretty. I didn't try the contour and highlight compacts as I have plenty of those shades.

So two thumbs up for me on these collections. I can't speak to staying power but the colors were amazing. Yes, I am gushing over makeup...ahem! xD

Argan Oil Update: The Pros and Cons

Now that I have tested Eden Beauty Elixir Pure Moroccan Argan Oil for a month straight I can say I love it...but only for certain areas.

In my opinion:

Pros: fills in all fine lines, leaves face moisturized, leaves hair bouncy, helped natural curl to come back after too much processing, little is needed to go the distance, scentless, easy to use.

Cons: caused constant breakouts for my combo/oily skin, left scalp too oily too quickly, not moisturizing enough for hands.

As you can see there are more good aspects of this product then not. I just had to figure how to make it work for me. I stopped using it on my face and everything calmed down. Also I decided to just use the oil on the tips of my hair and work it towards the midpoint of the shaft avoiding my scalp. And using it on elbows, knees, feet and the body in general works well for me but I wash my hands a lot throughout the day so I need something stronger.

I hope this gives you a little more insight on how the product worked for me. It may work differently for you if you have a different skin type or hair type. In general if you have the money I do think it's worth giving it a try.

My first live youtube video featuring a newly created large headband!

HOORAY! for my first 'How To' video in hopefully a long series for New Pollution Designs. This particular video features a large flower headband that I created. In the tutorial I explain ways to wear it. As simple as the advise may seem most women aren't wearing something flashy on their heads so I feel these things must be said!!! Ever so nicely of course! Hope you enjoy!

Winter White Wonders

HOORAY!!!! I have cool boots for winter! These are my rain tromping snow stomping boots. Well tromping and stomping to the car that is. :p I decided that wellies have been overdone. Or at least I am over them. I want something killer for winter and I think these will be a fun addition to my wardrobe. I bought them for a good price at: http://www.onlineshoes.com/

I feel they have some of the best prices for Dr. Martens. I want the gold foil 6-hole docs next. I think it'll be my nod to the tin man in the wizard of oz. Of course I should by the silver onces for that but I am more into gold...but then again there is a patent hot pink that has my eye as well ;)

New Feather Headband

Here is a new feather headband that will make it's debut on my etsy shop once it's up and running. I hope you enjoy.

Oh to be Gwen Stefani

If you can't beat them, join them right? On instyle.com they let you try on different celebrity hairstyles under the 'Hollywood Hairstyle' section. I thought this one was particularly funny as I am in no way shape or form a blond. This is me with Gwen Stefani's hair on my head, lol. Also what's surprising to me is that I looked really good with Jennifer Garners hair. I wonder if she'll trade with me?

Effortless!

Emma Watson looks out of this world in Burberry's new fall ad campaign. I think the brand really created a feel of effortless chic. I think that feeling rarely comes across in magazines. Generally people are a tinge to styled when they are supposed to look at ease. But in this case everything came together. Her makeup, hair and clothes look on the money and of the moment. I love it!

Tuesday 8 September 2009

this is how to wear a faux fur vest!

Well the one in the pic isn't faux...but, alas mine will be :)I am hoping to buy one this weekend. If not I am getting a faux black mink, with lil' mink rosettes all over it. Sounds crazy but looks FAB!!!! I have a sick obsession with faux fur every fall/winter/spring season. And during the summer it's all I dream about....yum.

Check out this pic from the Barney's Fall 2009 catalog :)

Inspiration

When I am working on a hat, sometimes I need to lay it all out to find the next step or color I am going to take.

Here is a copy of the hat that I made for Kandee the makeup artist! I hope you enjoy :)

Happy Hair!!!

I have done a lot of damaging things to my hair in the past from bleaching it all and dying it intense red to back combing and clip in extensions. Oh let's not forget all the searing heat I put in my hair with irons...just for fun! My hair has been unhappy with me for a while. I thought my only solution was to give it the chop. But I may have found a different way for it to be jolly again.

It's Eden Pure Moroccan Argan Oil. Don't freak with the word OIL! This oil feels light weight in my hair (note: I have fine hair, oily scalp and dry tips)and does not leave it looking or feeling like a grease slick. I wouldn't say that it gives mega shine to your hair, it just gives it the look and feel of health (I'm ok with that, lol). This particular brand does not have a smell. When I put it in my hair after a shower it soaks in instantly and my curls/waves come back naturally. Happiness! Yesterday I received compliments on my hair and the only thing I used was the Argan oil.

But I still think I will do a follow-up when I have used the product for a few months....just to make sure everything is kosher!

You can also use the argan oil on your face and body. I have done this as well and I like it but I need to use it a bit longer so that I can give it a proper love or hate!

Take care everyone :)

Estonia...who knew?

I love Urban Symphony from Estonia. If I ever had the chance to look like a pixie in my next life, Sandra Nurmsalu would be it. Dark hair and pale skin never looked so good. Plus the song, Rändajad, is amazing! I hope you enjoy...

nOir

I love nOir. They are a company that makes AMAZING modern jewelery. I am a person that loves bold, large statement pieces. I kind of figure why wear it if no one ever sees it. Also I find that jewelry can be a real conversation starter. I have had men and women from all walks of life come up and talk to me just because of my rings...and especially these! Also what's awesome is that my pyramid ring (the one with the four baby spikes) is similar if not the same one that Lady Gaga wears in her new video paparazzi. Um, like yeah! She loves nOir and this brand deserves recognition! I am not one to really follow what celebrities wear because most of them are styled by someone else. But I do like Lady Gaga's style so I feel it's ok to mention this. Really, who needs trousers when you have amazing jewelry. They just distract from the awesomeness that is nOir!

Here is a little glaminar and IMAT proof!

I just wanted to add these pics to go along with my other posts! If Kandee is in your area I highly recommend you checking her out! She is so sweet and knowledgeable! Her youtube address is: http://www.youtube.com/user/kandeejohnson

Also at IMATS I saw makeupbyrisa and queenofblendingMUA at the yabi booth and itsjudytime walking around. These are make-up artists and/or lovers who have youtube channels and blogs... it was so insanely busy I didn't have time to chat. But it was cool to see the youtube community out in full force.

Tuesday 23 June 2009

Ugh, I am stalling...

I have a hat that is half way done and I can't bring myself to finish it. Somehow I seem to be focusing on everything else but it!!! Ugh I have hat block...no pun intended as hats are made on blocks (just in case you didn't know that, lol :P. Yes, I am a dork!)

Glaminar and IMAT update!

Just a small mention about the Glaminars held by Kandee Johnson in LA... they were great. I think if you are interested in getting in to make-up she is a good place to start. I learned so much it's crazy! And with all the knowledge I gained from the glaminars I was able to go to IMATS and buy some great things for my kit. Everyone should check out Yabi cosmetics and own a beauty blender sponge. Also I went to Camerareadycosmetics.com and bought the rest of my kit. If you are starting out and need foundations I would highly recommend the RCMA palettes in Shinto and KO. They are HD ready....Ok, I am going a bit deeper then I wanted to without pictures. But they are to come next. Some picutes will be of Kandee and I and then some of the products I bought.

Bye for now...! :)

GLAMINARS AND IMAT

So I am on countdown now because I am going to Kandee Johnson's make-up seminars in Los Angeles. If you haven't seen her tutorials on youtube then you must be under a rock. It's under Kandeethemakeupartist on youtube.I am so excited. I am going to all three dates!!!That's Friday, Saturday and Sunday... Eek. And on Saturday after the seminar I am going to IMATS 2009 in pasadena. Apparently a lot of youtubers like xsparkage, petrilude, fafinetterx3 and others are supposed to attend. I wonder if I will see anyone or even recognize them. But I am looking forward to getting make-up and make-up tools at a discount from IMATS. Plus Kandee has set it up so that those who attend her Glaminars also get a special discount at certain booths at IMATS!!! YEAH! So looks to be an awesome weekend.

nails, nail, nails

I don't know what has come over me but I am too excited about a Konad nail stamping kit I just ordered yesterday. It hasn't even arrived I am thinking of all the ways I can create cool pop art on my nails. I have been watching youtube videos on how to use the kit and I think I am ready. Here is a quick photo of what other people have done. I will show my nails if it comes out nice! But let's enjoy anyways...shall we?

Saturday 4 April 2009

sunny eyes

I want these sunglasses. They are more exaggerated then the RayBan's that everyone and their mother own, at least in London anyways. I have only seen them in the same 1980s size with different colors. I want a larger 1960s size with a classic color. I wonder where I can find a pair like these? Does anyone know?
