Late 40s/ Early 50s Natural Retro Inspired Style (Plus Size OoTD) + Sleeveless Dress Styling Tip

Hi Everyone,

Do you ever see an image and think "That's the style I like!" Well this happened to me last night when I was watching Gwen Stefani's video "Cool" on youtube. It's a great song and a great video for both fashion and beautiful scenery.

Specifically I was super inspired by the natural yet retro makeup in this look so I tried to create a similar feel:
And the image below was what I tried to fashion my hair after. Her bangs/fringe are longer then mine but in person it did look similar but I find that my webcam doesn't pick up the nuances of my dark hair. So you will have to take my word for it, lol:

I do want to find a cute polka dot dress this summer but they seem to be so hard to find! So I hope you enjoy my video :)

Hair Inspiration: Rita Hayworth

Rita Hayworth: A Photographic Retrospective
Click the above link to see a great Rita Hayworth photo book.

Asked if she would ever get a short hairstyle, Rita Hayworth said she once had it short for a movie with Orson Welles (The Lady from Shanghai): "But I let it grow back as fast as I could. I don't see the point of following a fashion if it is not becoming."
The top photo is of Rita Hayworth on the set of Gilda.
The bottom photo is of her having her hair styled by famous Columbia Pictures hair stylist Helen Hunt who has been credited with giving Rita the luscious red locks.

"The change was important but subtle," Hunt explained, "... I used to bleach the front of Rita's hair, so the hairline wouldn't be so prominent--the cameramen were always after me to lighten her hair."
"I used to feel like a Spanish girl," said Rita, "but with red hair I feel, well--like an American."

Above is Rita Cansino before she became Rita Hayworth by having painful electrolysis done to her hairline.
Well in my book Rita is beautiful no matter what! But remember that when you feel down and are comparing yourself to the great Glamazons of today and yesteryear remind yourself that they feel just as insecure about their looks as you do about yours and their beauty has been created by a team and you my friend are the REAL DEAL:)

Blue Hair Never Looked So Sexy! California Gurl...

Now this is how to wear blue hair and still look smokin' hot! Check out Katy Perry at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. And you know I can't blame her for forgetting her pants because if I had those legs I'd be rocking this dress too....and so would you! Don't lie! LOL!!!

I wonder if she will start a trend. Does this make you want to run out and buy some blue hair dye? Or what about blue hair extensions?

Happy Fashions,
Elisa L'Amour xoxo
